Information Post

[Character Name] Lestat de Lioncourt
[Canon] The Vampire Chronicles
[Point Taken from Canon] post-Blood Canticle (or variable)

[Age] Born November 7th, 1760
[Gender] Male
[Sexual Orientation] Pansexual (with slight leanings toward homosexuality)

[Eye Color] "My eyes are gray, but they absorb the colors blue or violet easily from surfaces around them."
[Hair Color] "I have thick blond hair, not quite shoulder length, and rather curly, which appears white under fluorescent light."
[Height] 6'0"

[Other] Depending on the time in canon, one of his eyes has just the faintest suggestion of blood to it, as though it were not natural, though it is. It is the only part of him that does not appear to be immortally perfect, and is something he is self conscious about. To that end, if noticed at all, it's best left unmentioned, as it brings forth memories of a conflicting, and frightening, period in his life.

Lestat loves finery in all aspects of his life, and this is evident in his attire. His favorite fabrics are silk and velvet, which he wears despite the occasion. Often as not, he is in simple grey velvet pants, a modern, chic frock coat with cameo buttons, and black leather motorcycle boots. His hair, when tied back, is done so with a bit of silk ribbon.

[Background] Born in 1760, he was the son of French nobility, though by the time he was born, the fortune was spent. He grew up a hunter, was proud of putting food onto the family's table, though he felt that no one appreciated him. He was twenty-one when he slayed the wolves that earned him the name "Wolf Killer", and when he ran to Paris with his human companion Nicolas de Lenfent. They lived in poverty, with Nicki playing his violin for change, and Lestat (working under the name de Valois) working in a small theatre called Renaud's House of Thesbians.

It was there that the vampire Magnus found Lestat so interesting, and kidnapped him from his bed, which he shared with Nicki. He was thrown into a basement cell, along with dozens of corpses, each with hair that seemed to capture the sun, and eyes that would have been blue like his own, were they not rheumy and maggot filled with death. Realizing that he may be meant to die there with them, he resolved to fight, no matter what happened, which is something of a personality trait, the unwillingness to ever surrender.

He fought with Magnus on a rooftop beneath the Parisian nighttime sky. Fought and failed and was brought into darkness, and orphaned the very same night, when Magnus flung himself into a flame. For a time Lestat was alone, afraid to return to Nicki and his friends, or to speak to his mortal family. However, his resolve quickly melted, when his dying mother came to Paris to see him. He made a vampire of her, rather than witness her death, and soon he brought Nicki over as well.

This was the first example of Lestat's misfortune in the area of his progeny. Nicolas was maddened by immortality, didn't live to see another year, but by then Lestat and Gabrielle had fled the city, were off to travel the world. His next fledgling was a New Orleans plantation owner named Louis du Pointe du Lac, and Lestat admits that he was drawn to Louis partly because he reminded him so of Nicki. Their companionship was rocky, quarrelsome, and saw the creation of the child vampire Claudia to bring them together. This lasted for some seventy years before Claudia tried to kill Lestat, as she and Louis dumped his body into the murky waters of the swamp.

It was the vampire Armand, in Paris, who saw that Lestat would rush to his first real sleep, and he didn't awaken again until the 1980's, where he deemed he would fashion himself a rock star.

(For a much, much more detailed account of Lestat's history, visit the following wiki.)

[Personality]

Lestat is argumentative, rash, and incredibly arrogant. He needs everything to go his way, or else he will devolve into a petulant, pouting state, and nothing can be accomplished. Further, he has bouts of insane ideas that no one can convince him not to pursue. When he was young, he was much worse, and managed to mellow as the years passed, though not enough to particularly matter.

At his essence, Lestat is a creature who believes himself to be evil, and in that, he finds hell. All he wants is to find solace within himself, to find some way to reconcile the way he is forced to be with the way he wants to be. He wants to be good in a world where he believes he must be evil, the necessary evil, and that is his driving factor.

Impossible may be the best way to describe him, as he smiles and reacts and lies his way through history, but only because he never surrenders, never thinks anything is beyond him. If he wants it, and decides it is to happen, it simply does. No matter what. He is arrogant, almost to a fault, and finds utter delight in that, clothes himself in it to ward off the chilly nights. He is perhaps his biggest admirer, but also his biggest critic.

[Specialties/Abilities]

Lestat is not alone in that he can do many things with his Dark Gift. In detail, these include telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokenesis, superhuman speed, the ability to fly, and the ability to withstand sunlight, which most vampires cannot. However, it does still render him helpless. He's your quintessential powerful vampire, though his power does vary, depending on the time in the canon.

[Affection]

Lestat is largely attracted to men, and has been since he was a mortal man. Additionally, he finds women of the latter centuries to be somewhat frightening, though it doesn't always affect him. He is more than friendly with most, however, and is very approachable, though if he decides he doesn't like someone, for whatever reason, there isn't much that can be done about it.
